Hermeto Magnetico and Danilo Rojas Quartet at Wesley Anne


Hermeto Magnético is an octet dedicated to uncovering the repertoire of the legendary Brazilian virtuoso Hermeto Pascoal, whose music ranges from an eclectic mix of popular Brazilian music influences to improvisation, jazz, and classical, and who is known for a musical creativity that goes beyond conventions as it is 'neither jazz, nor bossa nova, nor samba’.  


For this special evening they will be joined by brilliant Bolivian pianist Danilo Rojas and his quartet, performing jazz inspired by the rhythms of his homeland.  Tickets at the door, 250 High St, Northcote.

Panorama Brasil finish off a big year of shows with something extra special - the Panorama Brasil All-Stars, featuring vocalists Dany Maia and Jacqueline Gawler, as well as Josh Bridges (cavaco/voice).

The acclaimed pianist Danilo Rojas (Bolivia) leads the Danilo Rojas Quartet, whose improvisation stems from the tradition of the Andean and popular music of his country. The repertoire of the quartet "travels" through diverse and colourful rhythms, harmonies and melodies within contemporary music styles.

The quartet will feature in a double bill with the octet Hermeto Magnético, who are dedicated to uncovering the repertoire of Brazil’s most prolific composer Hermeto Pascoal, whose musical genius is magnetic. Made up of stellar musicians of Melbourne’s live music scene, Hermeto Magnético feature eclectic melodies, otherworldly soundscapes and free improvisation. Join us for a night that celebrates contemporary Latin American improvisers and their music.
